![]() ![]() And the lake is SO beautiful! It’s not their policy to do that kind of thing and you only get 1 night (which is all we needed). We had to wait a while but anything was better than sleeping in the car! We were very grateful. They had an open site! They were so friendly and accomodating. We drove a couple miles down the road and got some food at Jalepenos (good mexican food!) while deciding what to do, and I thought, I wonder if they give away no-shows at a certain time, so on our way back to go sleep in the car, we stopped and gave it one last shot. We contemplated sleeping in our car at the trailhead which would’ve been okay but we had our dog and it would have been a bit uncomfortable in our little Honda Accord, haha. The girl who greeted us confirmed they were completely full. Highway 50 was completely closed due to a fire in Kyburz so we had to take a different route, which made us too late to begin our trip without hiking in the dark, so we decided to see if by chance Fallen Leaf Campground had any sites. My husband and I were going backpacking last weekend, leaving from the Glen Alpine trailhead at the end of Fallen Leaf Rd. If you’re looking for easy, comfortable, stress-free and beautiful camping, then Fallen Leaf Campground is the place to be. The lake is beautiful and the campground also boasts a general store at the entrance of the campground. All this at the tip of your fingers at Fallen Leaf Campground. One of the most amazing views I have ever seen. The spectacular view of what I think is Mt. The winning factor for this campground is Fallen Leaf Lake walking distance from your campground. I’ve also had no issues finding flat ground at each of the sites I have been at. Make sure to bring a canopy to cover yourselves over the table while you’re eating. As long as you store your food properly you should not have any issues. One ranger did come up to us to remind us of the bear siting, as they make frequent appearances at Fallen Leaf Campground. Our site came with a fire ring and standing grill along with a table and bear locker. The bathrooms were very clean, surprising for a campground. I often see the rangers drive around during the daytime. I’ve been here a few times and each time the sites were clean and well-maintained. Fall Leaf Campground is close enough to civilization where if you need essential supplies you can get them, and isolated enough where you still feel like you are in the wilderness. But as I was saying if your just looking to be in the outdoors with some of the amenities of home this is the best place for you. If you are into hardcore camping being on a campsite would not suite your needs. Good for little children and a adults who want to just be in the outdoors but not rough it out. This is a really a nice place for a family oriented stay/camping experience. They also have a store on the campsite so you can buy little souvenirs and other items you might need for your stay at Fallen Leaf Lake. They just need to know when and which site you would like. They told my because I am coordinator for a large group of people they can accommodate 20 – 30 people. They were also very accommodating to whatever needs I needed. From my experience with the staff they were friendly and eager to answer any questions I had. So keep all your food stored properly and minimize the possibility of a bear coming on to your campground. Oh man you would be in for a surprise how strong they are and how dangerous they can be. I know most people might see these guys and just think oh it’s just a bear. The main reason I say that is because of the possible bear intrusion on your campsite. One it will make the camp ground staff uncomfortable and might put you in danger. Make sure you follow all the rules so as to not infringe on the camp ground rules. It is a pleasant place to be and would high recommend getting a space here. I like waking up to a beautiful backdrop like this. Fallen Leaf Lake itself is beautiful and the water is very clear. They know the size of each campsite and can give you a yes or no if your rig will fit. But just make sure to ask the staff and let them know the size of your rig so there won’t be any complications. A few might be a tight squeeze if you have a fairly large trailer. The campsites themselves are kept clean and most of the campsites are easy to get in and out of with a trailer or RV of sorts. The bathrooms and showers are kept clean and are actually pretty nice. Some of the other sites I have been too have bathrooms but no shower. This site will offer you the outdoors with the amenities of home such as a nice bathroom and a shower. Fallen Leaf Campground offers many campsites that are great for beginner level campers. ![]()
